Course Description

The Work Boat Operator (WBO) course is designed for workers with little or no powerboat experience who wish to attain an inland boat handling and co-worker rescue capability on flat or slow-moving water. The target audience includes construction industry workers, road and bridge maintenance workers, related standby safety crews, Environment Agency workers, Canal & River Trust workers etc.

Course Content Includes

Scope of operations, boat and hull types, drive units, maintenance, pre-trip procedures, rescue boat equipment, PPE, communications, weather considerations, navigation considerations, dynamic risk assessment, launching and recovery, crew operational roles, boat handling under power and with paddles, towing, anchoring, crew person overboard and recovery, casualty pick up, casualty management.
