Water & Flood Awareness

Course Description

This is mainly a classroom-based course, designed to provide personnel who may be working near water with sufficient knowledge to be aware of the hazards created by this environment and develop an understanding of water rescue techniques. This course is DEFRA Module 1 compliant. The certification is valid for three years from date of completion.

Course Content Includes

Water rescue standards, rescuer safety, water hazards, flood dynamics and flood theory, personal and team equipment, medical considerations, self-rescue techniques, hierarchy of rescue techniques, considerations for mud and unstable ground, communications. Also includes a practical session on throw line rescues.

1 Day (6 contact hours).
