SWIFTWATER & FLOOD RESCUE BOAT OPERATOR

Course Description

This course is intended for emergency services or rescue teams who will be required to carry out rescues in a swiftwater and flood environment. Incorporating all elements from the Flood Rescue Boat Operator course, adding a swiftwater capability suitable for fast moving rivers and flash flood conditions, it is based on the philosophy of self-protection, and application of low to high risk solutions. this course is Defra Module 4 compliant.

Course Content Includes

Pre and post trip checks, rescue boat equipment, helicopter operations, flood and moving water hazards, medical considerations, weir considerations, swiftwater boat handling, controlling boats with ropes, casualty management, boat based throwbag rescues, transporting difficult loads, stretcher management, rescues from elevated positions, boat based swimmer rescues, search operations, night operations.

Duration

5 days or 4 days add on to the RBO or RYA Level 2 Powerboat Certificate.

Location

Menai Straits, North Wales.

Cost

£1125 (5 days) per person or £895 (4 days) per person with pre-requisites.

Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technician or equivalent. Minimum age 18 and must be able to swim.
