Safe Working in Water

Course Description

This course provides the knowledge and techniques for employees who need to work in or near water. It covers appropriate PPE and simple rescue techniques to allow safe rescue from water, both basic and moving, and gives simple rescue techniques that can be used to rescue co-workers. This course has a classroom element but is mainly a practical, in-water training course.

Course Content Includes

Water rescue standards and legislation, best practice guidelines, planning for a rescue, hydrology and water hazards, personal and team equipment, introduction to technical equipment, risk assessments and safe systems of work, medical considerations, communications, swimming techniques, conditional rescues including talk, reach and throw, people and equipment entrapments, strainer considerations, casualty and co-worker management.

2 Days (12 contact hours).

Various river locations around North Wales.
